What do I need for a skippers licence?

You need to be 16 years old and bring the following with you.

6 x ID Colour Photos 

Copy of your ID

 

Medical Certificate  

Eye test  

Log sheets.

Is there theory and practical – Yes

The course covers all vessels under 9m and includes Jet Skis .

Courses run every Saturday from 07h45 – Cat R and E – one day

Study material is available online .

All personell are certified .

The School issues Interim SAMSA certificates while SAMSA produces the final Certificate .

 Certificates can be upgraded .

How do I get a COF for my boat

All vessels require a COF and inspection of vessel must be done by SAMSA appointed surveyor

We are SAMSA appointed surveyors and issue COFs and Buoyancy certificates

VHF Radio information

VHF radio with DSC is required by all vessels going to sea  and a VHF licence is required to legally operate a VHF radio .

VHF course covers setting up of radios and messages using DSC and RT .

You get certified by attending a Short Range Certificate course with a certified school like VHF SRC School KZN .

The courses are 10 hours in total – one day .
